Description:

The Tan Micro Chubby is a downsized version of the classic Chubby Chernobyl, designed for low water, technical drifts, and spooky fish. Built with a slim 2mm foam body, it maintains high floatation without the bulk of standard sizes. The tan coloration is a proven favorite across western rivers. A white and bright green polypropylene wing ensures visibility from above, while its narrow profile allows for delicate landings.. it’s ideal for smaller dry-dropper rigs where subtlety and buoyancy both matter.

Specs:

  • Tied on the famed Tiemco TMC 100 hook
  • Bright chartreuse green spot on the wing for visibility
  • Two size #10 and two size #12 in the pack

What we like:

We like the Micro Chubby because it trims down the classic profile without losing performance. The slimmer body floats high but lands softly, making it a strong choice when trout are spooked by bigger foam. The hook gap is wider than you'd expect for its size, helping with hookups on short takes.

How to fish it:

Use the Micro Chubby as the top fly in a dry-dropper setup, especially in late summer when trout are wary and flows are low. Its compact body makes it suitable for shallower water or skinnier seams where a standard Chubby might spook fish or land too hard. Pair it with smaller nymphs on 5X or 6X tippet to maintain a stealthy presentation. It's also effective fished solo during terrestrial season when fish are keying in on small hoppers or ants but still want a clean, high-floating silhouette.
