Description: 

This fly is a different take on the classic pheasant tail nymph, elevated with a different twist of materials and modern competition-style form. Built on barbless jig hook and anchored with a copper tungsten bead, it features a natural pheasant tail body, copper wire rib, and a touch of synthetic peacock dubbing for subtle shimmer. The fly is finished with a small puff of white CDC.

What we like:

The CDC adds movement in the water, even catching a small air bubble on its way down bringing the necessary triggers for fish to strike. The pheasant tail and copper ribbing is a time tested combination, keeping it looking buggy and natural in all water types while increasing the durability of the body. Jig hooks ride hook-up, which means fewer snags on non-fishy objects while also helping your fishy hookups.

How to fish it:

We like using this on an indicator rig through riffles, seams, and drop-offs. Thanks to its weight and jig hook profile, it rides point-up and avoids snags. Pair it with a smaller tag nymph or dry-dropper setup to cover a variety of depths and feeding zones.
