While it’s not trying to compete with your trusty Woolly Bugger, it brings its own strengths: a different profile, fast sink, and subtle design cues that trigger strikes.

What we like:

We like the Poacher because it hits a smart middle ground, not as flashy or oversized as some articulated streamers, but with just enough movement and shimmer to suggest a struggling sculpin or juvenile baitfish. The jig hook helps reduce bottom snags, and the weighted design means it gets where it needs to go without needing a sink-tip line. It’s a great option when you want to fish streamers without switching up your whole rig.

How to fish it:

Fish it tightline style in pocket water or swing it through deeper runs. It also performs well when stripped or jigged in still water or slower pools. Wherever trout are chasing down smaller prey, the Poacher shows up looking just vulnerable enough to get hit.
